Bhoomika, Harshita's delightful cousin, is happily playing with her favorite toys.
Harshita's journey from a passionate enthusiast of math, science and various other interests to the founder of Spectrum Empowerment is an inspiring tale of dedication, empathy, and a burning desire to make a difference.
Harshita's motivation for founding Spectrum Empowerment stemmed from a deeply personal connection. Her cousin's battle with Rett's syndrome, which shared some symptoms with autism spectrum disorders, left a profound impact on her. Witnessing the challenges faced by her cousin and the toll it took on her family was a heart-wrenching experience. This first hand exposure to the effects of neurodevelopmental disorders fueled Harshita's determination to help children facing similar struggles.
Throughout her life, Harshita had immersed herself in a wide array of activities, from mathematics and science to tennis, chess, music, and art. She excelled in these pursuits, attending summer programs, leading clubs, and winning tournaments at national and international levels. Yet, despite her achievements, she felt a void, a longing to make a meaningful impact beyond personal accomplishments.
It was during her quest to fill this void that Harshita turned her attention to autism spectrum disorder. She recognized the availability of numerous STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs in her area but saw a gap in inclusive opportunities suitable for all children on the spectrum. This realization ignited her passion to create something unique and impactful.
In her research, Harshita stumbled upon an organization called "Pause for Parents" that provided care for children with special needs. Spending time with these children revealed a deep connection and love for helping them thrive. Combined with her profound affection for science and tennis, she set a noble goal for herself: to enrich the lives of children with autism and other special needs. With unwavering determination, she embarked on the journey of founding Spectrum Empowerment.
Spectrum Empowerment was born from Harshita's vision to integrate autistic children into the STEAM world while providing them with opportunities for social engagement. It was a labor of love, a testament to her commitment to making a positive impact, no matter how large or small. Harshita's initiative aimed to bridge the gap in STEAM education by creating an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their unique needs, could thrive and explore their potential. Her aim was not just to expose these children to STEAM education but to actively involve them in the STEAM world, fostering a love for science and technology that would open doors to countless opportunities in the future. Spectrum Empowerment not only reflects her love for science and her commitment to inclusivity but also embodies the belief that every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves a chance to learn, grow, and succeed in their own way.
